HOW DREAMS WORK
Only the dreamer personally can interpret his or her dreams to the full extent. What this book can do is to show you how to analyse them, and provide all the information you can possibly need on the subject. Only you, the dreamer, will know all the experiences, incidents, hopes and fears, joys and sorrows that have made up your life: all this is exclusive and unique to yourself, and all this information is collected by your unconscious mind, where it should be dealt with and recycled in a continuous process. Many of the things that happen, or the thoughts that come to you, the emotions that you feel, particularly when they happen to be unpleasant, become lodged in this dark and unsuspected part of your own psyche, and these things hold you back, hold you down. There is no need for this state of affairs to continue. Your inner feelings are able to arrange this unwanted material into a form presentable to your conscious mind, and this is done by way of the dreaming process. But if you are unaware of your own dream life, the clearing-out process will be in vain, and the dark contents, the ‘shadow’, will continue to accumulate, to your detriment.
